Judge George C. Metoyer, Jr – Division F

George C. Metoyer, Jr. currently presides over the civil docket in Division F. Judge Metoyer is the senior judge of the seven Rapides Parish district judges.

Judge Metoyer was born on June 3, 1958 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Holy Savior Menard Central High School in 1976. He then graduated with a Degree in Business from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1980 (later named the University of Louisiana at Lafayette or ULL). After college, he graduated from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge and obtained his Juris Doctor in 1983.

Before being elected as a district court judge in 1992, Judge Metoyer served as an assistant district attorney in Rapides from 1984 to 1992. While working in the district attorney’s office, he also practiced civil law in his private law office in downtown Alexandria.

Judge Metoyer is a member of the Louisiana District Judge Association, the American Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association. In addition, Judge Metoyer was awarded several awards throughout his judicial tenure, including the Southern University Law Center Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1992, Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals in 1995, and the Governor’s Service Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication to the Citizens of Louisiana.

In his spare time, Judge Metoyer enjoys horseback riding and zydeco music. He is also the proud father of two adult children named Danielle and Justin, as well as the proud grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren.
